So I recently got an email from Benji that got me to thinking. In this email it was discussing where our gasoline comes from and how it's propping up people that hate us in the middle east and central America.

The other facet of this is many people want our troops out of the middle east. Now, our troops are there ostensibly because they are eliminating the threat that brought us 9/11.

I would argue one cause of 9/11 is the CIA has been mucking about in the middle east for years (it's confirmed they trained Bin Laden after all). Why would the CIA be messing around in the middle east? Oil of course. Without our dependence on their oil, those countries would be insignificant.

So, the interesting part, and maybe somebody can confirm these numbers, is what gas is made from middle eastern oil.

Shell....................................... 205,742,000 barrels
Chevron/Texaco................. 144,332,000 barrels
Exxon /Mobil........................ 130,082,000 barrels
Marathon/Speedway.......... 117,740,000 barrels
Amoco................................... 62,231,000 barrels

CITGO Venezuela owned. Our dear friend Hugo Chavez who has vowed to destroy our economy.

Sunoco........................0 barrels
Conoco.. ....................0 barrels
0ASinclair...................0 barrels
BP / Phillips............... 0 barrels
Hess............................0 barrels
ARC0..........................0 barrels
Maverick.....................0 barrels
Flying J.......................0 barrels
Valero........................ 0 barrels
Murphy Oil USA (Walmart).....0 barrels

Just speaking for myself, think I'll stop filling up at Chevron.

I've read a similar email, Scotsman, and I'm with you on being a little more careful as to where I buy my gas. Even if I am a little drop in the puddle, it makes me feel better. Smile I've been attempting to buy most of my gas from Hess which is pretty local here and is one with zero barrels bought from the Middle East. While traveling, I do my best with what is available. I found it interesting that you mentioned Chavez with Citgo gas. That is why I refuse to purchase gas there, even if it is one of the cheaper ones in our area.

I realize we might not agree with everyone from whom we make purchases but if we realize that we are purchasing from someone who has vowed to destroy our very way of life, why should we choose to buy from him, if we have other options? My little bit will not have any impact but I must admit it gives me a little smile to know my money will not be helping to fill his coffers.

Very interesting post, Scotsman.

Perhaps, but enough drops and you have an ocean.

BTW, doing a bit of research, 76 stations are Conoco
