This might be great, so thought I'd mention it. It is currently down due to overwhelming interest (about 10 million hits per hour ), but well... sh*t happens .)
It is the first internet portal for a European online multimedia library that gives everybody access to the European cultural inheritance (they are still adding to it of course)
www.europeana.eu
(I think you should bookmark it)
Here is what José Manuel Baroso (chairman of EU-commission) said at opening:
"Europeana ... is a collection of art and culture for the 21st century. From today millions of digitalized books, maps, recordings, paintings, movies, photographs and archive documents from the 27 member states collections are only a mouseclick away for anybody that wants access to them."
And it is totally free, supported by EU funds.
PS: on a note... Life Magazine just made a big online access to their around 10 million photos over the years, Google has made a deal with them and will create it... currently about 2 million are online. _________________ Cheiron
