It seems that president Obama made some uproar lately.
While I checked out CNN... I watched the full speech to schoolchildren he made... then I watched various comments etc.
He just made a speech to the kids that education is important, and I think it was very appropriate, sober and inspirational, put in plain words with personal examples etc. But several states refuse to let the kids see it!
One guy... a Jim Greer (some chairman of the extradumb in Florida or something, it seemed), was very vocal in all this...
Normally I refrain from commenting too much on other countries politics... but this... this is just too dumb... actually in one clip a parent cried and said she didn't want her kid indoctrinated... I mean... HUH???!!!
Of course it is political spin by media and politicians that are hellbent on throwing dirt on opponents and profile themselves at same time (in this case republicans against democrats and the current President in particular)... but hasn't the time come for us all to rise above the stupidity? We actually have very very more pressing issues to debate than this type of bull****. It is purely destructive, without any meaning or legitimacy whatsoever..
Well... as the title here implies... I am actually speechless about the level people can sink to (the media, politicians and ordinary people). I just don't know what to say... I just sat watching it all with jaw dropped. As someone said once: "You can't argue against total stupidity"... I guess that is true.
We sure have our share of stupidity in Denmark...but this... if it happened here I would bloody hell move to another country in shame...
Any comments? ...cause I am just numbed

Ah, the FUD factor (Fear, uncertainty, doubt). A favorite marketing technique and rapidly becoming the political tool of choice. Because it is so easy to do when people don't bother checking facts for themselves and just take what their told at face value.
Obama certainly isn't perfect (what human being is), but people, PLEASE, read the speech and make up your own minds rather than letting big news organizations tell you what to think one way or another. |

Well... I guess I have to eat my hat now... and ... move to another country.
A danish tourist company "VisitDenmark", which is sponsored by the Danish state, put a video on YouTube recently with a young beautiful blonde danish girl, looking like a supermodel, holding a baby in her arms and seeking the father of her child... obviously the child was a result of she being drunk and winding up in bed with a foreigner on a one-night stand.
It was made as if it was true, but in reality, it was an actor and the brilliant idea was "to promote Denmark around the world".
The real media published about it, believing it was true.... still the tourist guys said nothing and now it has come out in the light, that it was a hoax.
Lots of uproar etc... how can they make such a stupid thing, there is no indication of anything other than it is a single mom with her child.
The ceo of the tourist bureau still defends that it was just marketing, and that it worked...... it was meant as a way to promote Denmark as a free spirited nation and blah blah...
But uh... first off... it's a lie.. a deliberate one... secondly... uh... what kind of message are they trying to get across to foreigners about danes??... I don't even wanna go into that topic....
Now they have pulled it from YouTube after very serious critizism by various official people here and users in uproar.
One of the guys at the marketing organization was in media today with an official apology... that showed actually they have no clue what they are doing.. he said: "we do a lot of good things, but in this case our communication failed, and we just have to get on from here", shrugging his shoulders....

In short... I seems that I have to move, because if a state sponsored organization can make such a dumb thing and not even see that they are way out, this is not a country to live in... question is ... what country to move to???? ... Suggestions?... just to get as far away from the mad people as possible... Easter Islands?... Northern Siberia? ... Svalbard?... Spitsbergen?... Papau New Guinea?.. (oh guess not there... some still eat people there), an island in Micronesia?... or join the penguins at Antarctica?

But gee, the idea of such an add would be to what? Attract a bunch horny jerks looking for their jollies? Yeah, that's a real smart move. |

OOps.... heh... today it got out that the ceo of the tourist bureau in above postings... who went out and defended the fake youtube video with an arrogant shrug and saying: "it's just commercial marketing.... pffft" (as if things being commercial has no obligation what so ever to truth).... ummm she has been fired.. welll technically she resigned... but it was prolly a "nudge nudge" thing lol
So I have decided to cancel my one way flight to Micronesia after all...
