At 27,000 feet above the North Pole today, Christmas wishes came true for a planeload of kids who are battling life-threatening illnesses.
It was Air Transat’s Flight in Search of Santa, and the king of Christmas himself did not disappoint.
The captain announced to the noisy and festive crowd that Santa had been spotted on the left side of the plane and warned that a “delicate manoeuver” would have to be made to get Santa and his giant red sack on board.
The 200 kids erupted into cheers and hollers when after the plane dipped slightly and swerved, Santa and Mrs. Claus appeared.
Since 2006, the Children’s Wish Foundation and Air Transat have joined forces to take to the skies to find the elusive Santa Claus.
The Children’s Wish Foundation has granted wishes to over 16,000 seriously ill children across Canada since 1984. The average wish costs $12,000 to make come true, so yesterday’s $325,000 donation from Air Transat will go far.
The airline has donated $5 million to the foundation since 2004.
Two years ago my son had streptococcal meningitis and spent almost three months in the hospital, during that time that he was ill we spent Christmas there.. I will never forget seeing the smile on children’s faces on Christmas day when Santa Claus showed up giving out Christmas gifts which were donated to the Montreal Children's Hospital. The joy on their faces was just priceless.
Well done to the Children’s Wish Foundation.
P.S Do you beleive in Santa Claus? I do _________________ - Flexie -
