some thoughts on how we chat, or don't at times very well, how we type more or less than we might have, say things in ways we wouldnt if we couldhave . chat is like an art form, words are the brush and the screen a canvas thats just there and stupidly waiting, it doesnt help or hinder , just lets us fry oursleves in many ways each day, seems back space after send just never works does it lol. Well folks I hope this was a good communication lol,,,,till next

Nice elucidation Rawhide, and something I've thought about too from time to time.

Even with graphics we do de facto only have the written word as information source, whereas in real life conversation we have body language, tone of voice etc too. Even the telephone helps compared to text chat... you can hear if it is jokingly meant or dead serious etc... and yes...I think we all have been in the situation where we sent off an email and banged head in keyboard wishing to delete it lol.
I read somewhere that a study showed that up to 60% of informational value/assesment/evaluation/impressions in a person to person communication stemmed from non-verbal signs... (don't take me up on the percentage though, but it was up there, maybe higher)

Misunderstandings are easy with inhibited interaction... just having text... and even people from totally different backgrounds or cultures.
But it is a fun ride I think Smile ... we just need to take it easy and listen with an open mind. Sometimes things don't textually look as they are meant.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts, it is an interesting issue to ponder about Smile

Rolling Eyes oh my Bri that was so beneath you ...... you of all ppl know how text is taken out of context....... we all have to understand , as Che says, it is hard to relay some messages.... without seeing body language etc.. 'tis a challenge for sure ........ (back spaces frantically)......
