Very Happy Scot...Lisa....Bri...anyone out there. I think that there is a bug involving the locking and unlocking of rooms on manor.

It causes people who are using it to be cast off manor in a rude fashion. The situation is this..or as it appears to me. I am in a room with lock and user list openned and i lock or unlock door and I am sent off manor.

The problem seems to have began with the lastest version or update we had. It is not unique to one manor. It is sometimes acompanied by a processing error in log.

So there appears to be a conflict between scripts being used and the way manor effects it.

In other words...Helppppppppppppp!! Laughing

I had this issue when I first started my Manor an before I got my manor registration. I put in a lock an we could lock it but unlock an we would freeze.

I had Cheiron put in a lock an same, then Bundy an same. The only time it wouldn't kick me was if I was authorised in. We tried all sorts of combinations but then came up with my manor would be without locks.

Once I got my manor registration I tried again an all seems fine. Not that we lock many rooms but noone is getting kicked when we test it.

we do like this:
make a spot, check "lock" and "don't move" buttons.
make two spotstates for that, first unlocked picture, second locked.
targetspot set to spotid of lock itself.

we can't see the error... only one thing indicates a problem... if you have userlist open, when you lock room, it SEEMS to create the error that kicks users off, but unverified so far.

and I fail to see what on earth a manor server reg would have to do with it.
.. and btw it hits all users seemingly... wizzed or not.

We've been having a similar problem at SW, but with a really strange variation. Lil Destiny will go to unlock a room (no problem with locking it, it seems) and she freezes and gets booted out BUT ONLY when I'm in the room with her. No problems if it's someone else in the room. Just me.

We've tested it with several people and several different rooms and ways, but it only seems to happen when I'm in the room.

And don't tell me it's BO cuz I shower daily!

I'm looking into this now. Spent some time over at SW last night and corrected the lock they had setup but that didn't solve the problem.

BTW, locks require both a lock spot with a closable spot as the target of the lock to work correctly. Your lock/unlock graphic goes in the closable spot.

Later today (Monday, after fix the brakes in my van) I'm going to put a debug build together to have a few run so can get a better idea of what's going on. The only clue I have so far is Destiny is running Vista on her machine. By chance are the others having an issue also running Vista?

It is happening in all different ways.. It is not just Vista this is happeningto many.

I tried to explain when I first got my manor we tried all different combinations of locks. We could lock with no issue but as soon as we unlocked some would be kicked. Not all. I tried locks from MP an FDF an brand new ones an none of these solved the issue. So I deleted all locks.

I then waited for my Manor registration. When this was done I redid the locks. I tend not to get the problem as bad. When You went to SW last night we played in Shar an found that out of 10 people when we locked nothing when unlocked 2 would poof. These people were not on Vista.

Another problem that did happen was a red astrix would appear an the person would then lock up an get booted.

Scots, i dont have Vista and iget the red asterisk when ppl use the lock...
seems this problem just started ..... has there been some update recently ??
I do know Elite server has upgraded but....... i've heard this happening on other servers.. the odd thing is.. you get no explanation of the error.... just the small asterisk...
We've just taken out the lock to eliminate the booting until its resolved...
btw Happy New Year to you and Gehoo.............

That's what has me stumped, I haven't released any updates since 1.0. Is why I was wondering if it might be Vista related.

Umm Bri, not to be a jerk, but that isn't quite correct. Following is a room description with a properly implemented padlock icon:

Code:
<roomdesc background=croom.jpg width=750 height=384>
   <spot id=1 poly=10,10:40,10:40,40:10,40 trgt=4 nomove lock></spot>
   <spot id=4 poly=10,10:40,10:40,40:10,40 closable>
      <state id=0>
         <img src=chessunl.png desc=chessunl.png></img>
      </state>
      <state id=1>
         <img src=chesslck.png desc=chesslck.png></img>
      </state>
   </spot>
</roomdesc>

If you put this in a text file and then load it as a room template you can see what I'm blathering about.

Happy new years to you too Mimee, and to all Manorites and friends.

Im sorry but I am lost at what Your saying Scottsman...

Is it possible for you to do up a room Like Bri has for us to go an gander at it....

Actually is it possible to have some template rooms an ones with scripts accessible for new Owners? Maybe some of the older owners can provide some templates an scripts to help out the newbies....

Just a thought!!

Happy New Year to all....

I will see if Lisa and I have the time to construct a "Barn Manor" with each room having a http zip file download. That file will contain the template (rmt) and graphics.
The old script barn was a great help in Palace for new owners.

Happy 2008 to all.

Smile

Here is the room template and image files in a zip file you can drop into any manor to see the example.

Thanks...

I am very lucky an have lots of help, so I think I am blessed.

But there are times when I go wow - I know what I need but of course noone is around or it is hard to explain what I want.

A Barn Manor would be great an I am sure I can push the other lovely owners htat have been helping me to give up 5 mins of their time an add to it if need be...
