Lord knows they Love to play Mommy and Daddy to us LIL Babys and tell us nothing but what they want us to hear... the only scary thing to worrie about is why they do this.. if we all seem to want to be told and it dosent matter to them. I guess we have to rethink on us americans having any freedom with the contorl of a Mass Vote huh. yah!!! USA the GOV controled Free Country hehehehe if that makes sence

I just got this in a yahoo group I am in, I am not an American so I cant judge but you are and you should, I also think it is interesting to read.

Wild Pigs

There was a Chemistry professor in a large college that had some
exchange students in the class. One day while the class was in the lab the
Professor noticed one young man (exchange student) who kept rubbing his back,
and stretching as if his back hurt.

The professor asked the young man what was the matter. The student
told him he had a bullet lodged in his back. He had been shot while fighting
communists in his native country who were trying to overthrow his
country's government and install a new communist government.

In the midst of his story he looked at the professor and asked a
strange question. He asked, 'Do you know how to catch wild pigs?'

The professor thought it was a joke and asked for the punch line. The
young man said this was no joke. 'You catch wild pigs by finding a suitable
place in the woods and putting corn on the ground. The pigs find it and
begin to come everyday to eat the free corn. When they are used to coming every day, you put a fence down one side of the place where they are used to
coming. When they get used to the fence, they begin to eat the corn again and
you put up another side of the fence. They get used to that and start to
eat again. You continue until you have all four sides of the fence up with
a gate in the last side. The pigs, which are used to the free corn,
start to come through the gate to eat; you slam the gate on them and catch the
whole herd.

Suddenly the wild pigs have lost their freedom. They run around and
around inside the fence, but they are caught. Soon they go back to eating the
free corn . They are so used to it that they have forgotten how to forage
in the woods for themselves, so they accept their captivity.

The young man then told the professor that is exactly what he sees
happening to America . The government keeps pushing us toward socialism and keeps spreading the free corn out in the form of programs such as
supplemental income, tax credit for unearned income, tobacco subsidies, dairy
subsidies, payments not to plant crops (CRP), welfare, medicine, drugs, etc.
while we continually lose our freedoms - just a little at a time.

Jou Know when I come to Usa and feel Freedom frist time was Great , When jou grom up in a place With a Wall and see ppl kill for wanteding to go over it wil jou rreally have to take a look back and think on what the word Freedom is Jknow ,
To me I can say And Do what I want to Me that isd more then I have ever done..
I can shop and buy anything and No i do not Vote I do Spit on a one plce We all hate in berlin.....

LD, just speaking for myself, but the reason so many Americans get very concerned about the government drifting in the direction of socialism is because we have seen what has happened in other parts of the world (USSR, East Germany, etc) and don't want it to happen here.

Unfortunately, Bush has used 9/11 to enact laws that have moved this country several large steps towards a police state in the name of security. It's not at the level of the old East Germany or the KGB, but thats the direction he's pointed things.

One that really gets me, you can't leave the country anymore without a passport (papers). No more day trips to Canada etc. Not to mention clamping an iron fist on anybody escaping the country. All they have to do now is restrict who gets papers to leave the country.

I didnt write it, I got it as I said from a group I am in (pets group) and posted, my feelings are that Americans feel they are loosing their freedom.
Freedom to be informed, freedom to breed their pets, and to have them without spaing and neutering them, and in socialism you loose your freedom as you like it or not.

I think you guys really are confusing two different concepts: socialism and totalitarianism (dictatorship).... and you might look up concepts like communism too, or proletarian dictature.

American politics has nothing to do with socialism in any way whatsoever, ....au contraire. It might have a bit of Keynes in it (economical theorist), but most western countries need that to keep the social structure intact, in spite of the geopolitical power elite that gives a hoot for national interests or whatever ethical or human rights there are or are struggled for.

Scots... the indications about 9/11 etc ... yes I agree, but a concentration of power and a totalitarian regime has nothing to do with socialism per se

and Gigi: socialism does not equal loss of freedom, the administration of it can though, as any governmental form that claims some ideological inheritance, or where a powerelite takes charge misleading the people, whatever form it has.

You are confusing totalitarianism with socialism and one does not entail the other.

Yes whoaa does come to mind. Not so much that there is life other then here on earth or that we have in deed may contact. I'm more impressed that this guy had the nads to say so.

That to me is part of the change this country needs. While he did come forward with this information, he seemed to have waited for a time where he would not be locked up, ridiculed, labeled totally whack due to radiation exposure or even turned up missing.

I had always said we need to be invaded for this world to pull together as one and focus on whats important. Just so happens that the movie independence day proved me right.

My hat goes off to this guy for doing what he believed was right, obviously with out asking if he could.

I checked some of the links on that page and one brings you to the radio station web site where they have a clip of a phone call to NASA about it. The guys that answered was totally caught off guard. I found it amusing to listen to.

I also found it interesting when the talk shows host request to speak to someone about what Dr Ed Mitchell has said, the NASA dude replied " let me see who would be willing dispute what an astronaut said"

This guy is all set to still try and cover it up. I think this guy eat a lot of corn.

I understand Re Socialism Cheiron, however the glaring examples from this worlds history (i.e. USSR, East Germany, Nazi Germany (yes Hitler was a socialist)) fell far from the ideal of the theory. And all collapsed catastrophically. China is still going, but they have been adopting some capitalist principles to keep the economy working, so who knows where that will end up.

When I refer to socialism in the US however, I am referring to the pre Bush years when the liberals in the Democratic party were indeed moving this country more and more toward a socialist state. Is how the Republican party got into control because enough people got fed up with it.

So will be interesting (in the Chinese curse sense of interesting) to see how far the pendulum swings back with the next election.
