i know technically that day is in June but after a day without power due to new power lines being put up, i beg to differ. how we take it all for granted. By 3 pm i was suffering caffine withdrawal symptoms and was forced to risk life and limb ( mine and fellow pedestrians ) and take the batmobile out for its inaugural run. pavements with an inch to spare either side are a nightmare to say the least. Hence by the time i reached the Raddisson Hotel i needed a brandy not a cappuccino but i resisted and fired up the batster to get home before the darkening clouds left me on that narrow pavement soaked to the skin and cussing like a mad woman. i made it sniffling and coughing into a less than warm house and worst of all no t.v. hummmm what to do?????? re-read an old magazine. nah... two mins of that and i was bored , see how many pieces my cell phone breaks into if i throw it against the wall coz its beeping at me that its battery is low still sitting in my jacket and directing murderous looks toward the chirping phone i heard what i hoped was the sound of the workmen leaving so possibly an end might be in sight. A horrendous thought occurred to me perhaps its just quitting time and they have not reconnected all the lines shudder..now might be a good time to look for the torch instead of breaking my neck over it later. but hurray let there be light and there was. never again will i underestimate what happens when i push the button on the kettle or reach for the light switch. we are spoiled i guess but i just dunno how people manage without it.
